I'm sold on oil-based rustproofing. If they can fog it into body cavities, frame rails, etc...you can't go wrong. I wouldn't even consider Ziebart for rustproofing at this point. I might use them for bedliner or something.

So here's my car...I haven't washed it for months for some reason. Anyway...you can see where the Krown is leeching out of the panels. I think I had it sprayed almost a year ago.

Be happy you don't have a Ford Escape! I'm working on repairing my sister in law's 2008 right now...

That's impressive rust. Better call and complain to Ford! I've never seen anything rust like that before thankfully. I've seen rusty floors and boxed in frames rust from the inside out but nothing that "new". I'd hate to live and work in the rust belt.

    Lordthunderingjesus!

    That's some nasty AF corrosion.

I guess that explains why there aren't many Ford Escapes / Mazda Tributes left in Nova Scotia from that era.... they've all long since failed inspection.

I kinda wanted to use my car to demonstrate what they do at Krown. I know you know this javensbukan.

Unfortunately my photos didn't turn out well, and my car has a bit of surface rust underneath that I think can be attributed to my fault.. because I waited over a year before oil spraying.

Oh well, still pretty good for a car that drives 365 days a year. The photo with the krown sticker on the door, see those round black plugs? Those pop open and the krown people spray inside the doors. One little spot up where the back licence plate is is rusty, but you can't see it.

    Here’s a car used mostly on back roads 2015 with 350,000km/217,000milesAttachment 19266Attachment 19267Attachment 19268
And another one with 370,000km/230,000miles that hasn't seen as much gravel. Note: far less gravel inside subframe. And no block heater cord hanging down below rad support..... Attachment 19269Attachment 19270 This car still has the original cvt in it.

When mine was new six years ago, the cavities received waxing (Teroson cavity spray) and the seams of doors, hood and trunk lid also.

A year or two later the rear and front axles were de-rusted, undercoated and painted. Should have done that on the new car!
Since then, no rust at all developed.

I'm not worried about our fleet cars, they'll have 6-700,000km on them by the time they are rusted out.
