    Stock Fuel Pump Flow?

Does anyone know what our stock pump flows? With boost i’ve had some people tell me I must upgrade my pump.

However, i’ve never had an issue so far with running lean even under 10psi. The engine is so small even Id think even a motorcycle pump would likely deliver enough fuel to this engine 😂

No, but sounds like it should be easy enough to measure.

Fill your tank and use the pump to transfer to a ten-gallon gas can. Use a stopwatch to see how long it takes and you'll have the answer.

Wouldn’t that number change a good bit under pressure though? Or do you think an unrestricted flow test tell me all I would need to know?

Stock fuel pressure is 47psi, they don't give any flow specs though.

    Yes, it absolutely would.

A proper flow test has many parameters, including temperature, viscosity, head (or pressure), flow rate. The driver should be mapped too. For an electric motor as in this example, volts and current can be captured. Other drivers such as engines have different measurements but that doesn't apply here.

There's a bunch of different pump designs. Centrifugal pumps behave different from rotary gear or vane pumps. I don't know which ours is.

I think some fuel systems such as diesels have crazy high pressures. 47psi seems pretty mild in my understanding. That pressure needs to be taken into account with the injectors and engine management, of which I have zero experience with.

Why would you need to upgrade the pump if you are not running lean?

What is the highest duty cycle on the injectors (running gasoline) you have seen?

I’m going based on what other turbo mirage builders told me. According to the calculators i’m running even with E85 I only need less than 100LPH. I can’t imagine even a small pump like this isn’t close to that. I have larger 300cc injectors, Ill be going to 500cc injectors once the turbo is in and it’s switched E85

My guess is you'll be fine. They likely don't make a specific tiny pump for the Mirage. They probably use something out of the Lancer or something with significantly more horsepower. If you're really worried get a fuel pressure gauge.
