Wow! I guess you're still not into your car for a ton of money after buying it cheap at auction and all...As long as you're happy with what you got.

I imagine a significant % of Mirage owners couldnt afford a thousand dollar repair.

After looking at the photo, I would have taken the cracked piece to somebody able to weld thermo plastics with ultrasonics. Lacking that, I would get it 100% clean with the help of brake cleaner spray, and then weld it with a warm (not hot!) soldering iron, regulated down to about 150°C or so.
That crack will not have happened without a severe mechanical force. Looks like the tank was taken out of the car with the hose above the crack still attached to the pump assy.

I recently had an issues with the housing of the fuel pump.
According to the dealership it's cracked and need to be replaced.
Even if the car is a 2014 it's still cover under the warranty.
so they did the job for free.
My only concerns is, since they did that, my MPG jumped between 8 to 9 l/100km in town ( previously 5 to 5.5) and 6.5l/100km on highway(previously 5.5).
I will bring back the car on Wednesday.
Does anyone have an idea of what could cause that increase?
I don't smell any gas in the car neither like if there is a leak.

travels are you measuring your fuel economy yourself or are you using the MID display in the gauge cluster?
