Question How much should I pay "out the door" for a new 2014 Mirage ES with CVT?

Would $15,500 be a good out the door price (factoring in that there's still a $1,000 manufacturer cash back promo going on here in the us)?

Depends. Just looking at truecar.com, they are quoting $14,690+state sales tax for a ES CVT, which would be ~$15,500 with 6 or 7 percent sales tax.

You can do better . The rebate benefits both . The dealer could give extra discount of $250 > $1,000 . May be more difficult to get a large discount ( $1,000 ) since Mitsubishi dealers are not as abundant as Toyota to compete for a better price . Best of luck and let us know how the purchase goes .

See this recent ad from a Mitsubishi dealer , http://mirageforum.com/forum/showthr...rice-of-13-665 (click on picture to enlarge ) . The ES should get more of a discount than the $335 from the dealer on a DE . $500 or greater would be reasonable for the ES . Good luck and keep us updated .

I always thought new cars in the USA were soooooo cheap. Very envious coming from the UK, where we now have a 20% sales tax. Just bought my Attrage GLS CVT in Thailand though and it's 500,000 baht here (with free insurance) = $15,000 US.

    $13,790
    -1,000 ( Mitsubishi Rebate )
    _______
    $12,790
    - 791 ( Dealer discount )
    _______
    $11,999

A dealer discount of $800 > $1,000 should be reasonable for an ES with the C.V.T. before the $1,000 Mitsubishi rebate . This is for a DE .

I am car shopping too at the moment.

cars.com lists some ES at 11,999 - but you can see a disclaimer: "includes all available rebates" w/c some may not apply to me: i.e. military etc. etc.

The $11,999 does not include the military or loyalty , it's the $1,000 from Mitsubishi and dealer discount . They do like to manipulate the prices .

Actually, this one dealership is saying 10,995 and specifically lists keyless entry & more so it has to be the ES.

Looking at the fine print: MSRP 13,790 - 1795 discount minus 750 customer rebate - 250 loyalty rebate. No idea what the 1795 discount is about.

Fuuuu. It was for 11/13-12/13 only. Should have went shopping earlier...
