New Facebook Group for Central Florida Hypermilers

If you know anyone in the Central Florida area who is into hypermiling type stuffs, point them here:

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/cflfuelsippers

If there's enough interest, it could lead to some fuel economy challenge events or other gatherings. For now, it's just discussion.

I'd love to do a fuel efficient meetup. But after Covid is over...I'll let other people know about the Facebook group

That's the beauty of it. If we did an economy challenge and did it right, it would be EASY to stay socially distant. Perfect pandemic activity!

I really have no clue how many people there are in Central Florida who would be interested, though. Figured a FB group might be a good way to find out.

If you're hypermiling, probably 3 days.

It's probably 16-18 hours of highway driving time depending on what part of Ohio. Straight down I-75.

Last time I was in Ohio was about 10 years ago, I flew into Cincinatti to pick up my BMW and drove it home. A 2006 Z4 3.0si can get over 30 mpg cruising at 80 mph on the highway, if you were wondering. (That's one of the things that makes the Mirage so disappointing... at 80 mph, a Mirage doesn't do enough more than that to make it worthwhile!)

After reading about Italian Tune-Up I once drove the Mirage on the Highway 60 mph in 3rd gear which put it at 6000 rpm and did that for almost 30 minutes. Later learned it was a stupid thing to do. Thats why Im glad THIS forum exists or else others would make same foolish mistake.

I also made a bad shift by mistake and went into 3rd gear instead of 5th gear one time. But I immediately pressed the clutch when I realized my mistake. I think the manual transmission can tolerate a couple of bad shifts but we dont want to make a habit of too many bad shifts.

Yeah, 3rd gear can go up to 80mph if l remember correctly...and really l'm sure the engine can take it...when l first drove my car home...l hit the rev limiter in 1st but thankfully the fuel cut-off was there to stop it.
