Hey bmcki do you have anything plugged into your OBD-II port?

No, only thing that's ever been plugged into it is a scan tool, but currently nothing.

Where'd you download a 2018 service manual? Sounds like you're following the dealer flow chart: step 1- replace most expensive part
    step 2-shrug shoulders

    Did you have a p1509 or p1590?
I figure everyone knows this by now but is there anything plugged into the obdII port? Wifi dongle, insurance company driver tracker, chinese obdII bluetooth code reader junk?

My mistake, it is P1590. The service manuals aren't hard to find, but since you asked, I downloaded mine straight from the Mitsubishi website. Nothing at all is plugged into my OBD II port, and my scan tool is a Launch CR123X(which I haven't used on this vehicle).

Are you talking about the Owner’s Manual or the Service Manual?

    44,230 on the odometer.
Service manual, not owners (already had that).

Mitsubishi has a 5 year/60,000 mile warranty that transfers to subsequent owners. It's the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty that is for the original owner only:

Have you discussed this with your local Mitsubishi dealer?

Mind sharing your source for your Service Manual? Others here would love to get their hands on one.

Here is what my 2015 Service Manual says about P1590:

DTC P1590: TCM to ECM Communication Error in Torque Reduction Request <CVT>

    TECHNICAL DESCRIPTIONS OF MONITOR METHODS
The ECM checks whether the errors in data communications sent by the TCM exist or not.

    MONITOR EXECUTION
    Continuous

MONITOR EXECUTION CONDITIONS (Other monitor and Sensor)
Other Monitor (There is no temporary DTC stored in memory for the item monitored below)
    Not applicable

Sensor (The sensor below is determined to be normal)
    Not applicable

    Check Condition
    Ignition switch is "ON" position.

    Judgment Criterion
ECM detects an error in communication between ECM and TCM.

    FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
    Engine output is restricted.

    OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PATTERN
    None.

    TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
The most likely causes for this code to be stored are:
CAN line harness damage or connector damage.
    ECM failed.

    DIAGNOSIS
    Required Special Tools:
    MB992744: Vehicle communication interface-Lite (V.C.I.-Lite)
    MB992745: V.C.I.-Lite main harness A
    MB992747: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable short
    MB992748: V.C.I.-Lite USB cable long
MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
    MB991824: Vehicles Communication Interface (V.C.I.)
    MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable

STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), diagnose CAN bus line.
    CAUTION
To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).

NO: Repair the CAN bus line. Refer to GROUP 54C, Diagnosis  CAN Bus Diagnostics Table P.54C-12. Then go to Step 3.

STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
(1)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(2)After the DTC has been deleted, read the DTC again.
(3)Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
    Q:Is DTC P1590 stored?
YES: Replace the ECM (Refer to, Removal and Installation P.13A-656). Then go to Step 3.
NO: It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent. Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points  How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions P.00-13.

STEP 3.

I asked about the service manual because there is a free one floating around for a 2015 and the wiring schematics are different from a 2017 and newer.
I had a very similar problem in a Mirage. Hopefully you figure it out.
