    TPMS, required by state(s)?

My local shop said it's a state requirement.

Is it not in some states/countries?

It's a federal standard in the US. TPMS has been required in all cars sold in the US since 2007.

It's not required in all countries. For example...TPMS is not required in Canada.

Unfortunately, the Mirage has one of the least consumer-friendly TPMS systems available in a production vehicle. The system can be amazingly difficult for a consumer to deal with. But there are things you can do yourself to keep your TPMS system operational without breaking the bank.

Are you having a TPMS issue?

Just backing up what Top Fuel has already stated -

"Phase-in started in October 2005 at 20%, and reached 100% for models produced after September 2007. In the United States, as of 2008 and the European Union, as of November 1, 2012, all new passenger car models (M1) released must be equipped with a TPMS."

    taken from -
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tire-p...ith%20a%20TPMS.

The huge Firestone tire recall on late model 1990's Ford Explorers really pushed this mandate in the States.

What they said. We don’t have a tpms law in Canada but lots of vehicles come with it.

Your current factory sensors are programmed to your Mirage. Use them!

My 2017 Mirage & 2011 Forester have original factory sensors. My extra set of winter tires for each vehicle have cloned sensors that match the same codes as the originals.

Hey Top, I actually bought another Bartech Tech400SD. Why? Because it was REALLY CHEAP. This one has 2017 software, where my first one had 2014-2015 software.

The software on the one I just got says new sensors can't be programmed to the Mirage. But I also was able to update the first Tech400SD I bought with the latest software, and it says it CAN program new sensors to the Mirage using the infamous 'blue cable'. I found this to be interesting. Bartec seemed to admit in 2017 they couldn't figure out how to program new sensors into ETACS, but now seem confident they can.

Haven't tried it yet. Which software version does yours have?

You know...I just went looking for my Bartec tool and I can't find it?!? I'm working from home right now so I bet it's in my desk drawer at work. I'll have to grab it later this week.

At some point Bartec sent me an older software version than my tool had. They thought they had broken the Mirage functionality in one of their later software releases...so they wanted me to try the older release. The older software didn't work, either. But remember my ETACS has TPMS error codes in it that don't even exist in the service manual. So in my case, I think I'm going to need someone to clear my codes first. I'm going to check with a private shop near my house to see if they have a scan tool that can do it.

Fascinating. Maybe they actually DID get it figured out in later software versions? I have v.62.2. And I can get v.62.3, which was just released.
