    Cvt problem...2017 won't move 193,000km

I'm off to grab a Mirage that won't move. Driver thinks the transmission is hooped. Fak.

How difficult is it to change a CVT? Is it as straightforward as a drop and swap, or do you need to do some fancy reprogramming with the computer as well?

Seems some of my local junkers are letting low-mileage CVT's go for as low as $500. I am a little worried about mine going eventually, but if it's easy to swap, all of my worries have suddenly disappeared. A $500 repair every 100K+ sounds doable for me.

Remember, the vehicles that Fummins gets to service are piss beaten and abused by people who normally don't care about them whatsoever so I'm sure that might have something to do with it.

He didn't baby it. That's something different than abusing it. It was his own car, in contrast to the company cars Fummins is maintaining.

Some cars are looked after well by the drivers and some are not. It’s easy to tell the people who care from the ones who don’t, just look at their personal vehicles. Our highest mileage car had a mint interior and was never in an accident. If something wasn’t right I was told about it and fixed it before it became a bigger problem.

Actually...this is the same car that had so much water under the drivers seat that it corroded a connector there. There’s a thread about it somewhere. It’s a slob mobile.
At your company Fummins, are the drivers that don't maintain their Mirages penalized?

Personal ownership makes a difference. If it’s your investment you’ll be more likely to protect that investment. If it’s someone else’s money...
