I kinda doubt that your escort had a mazda engine. I thought only the early 90's gt escorts had the 1.8L mazda engine and everything else came with a ford engine.
The tracker wasn't a chevy with a suzuki engine it was a suzuki vehicle with a chevy emblem.
It appears that kia bought engines from mazda and installed them in their little suv. Mazda didn't build suv's that early.

For some stupid reason I watched over half of a Snotty Kilmer video last night. The title said something like "why mazda is the best mfg" or something like that. Then he went on talking about the entire history of Mazda from the early 1900's to now, I stopped watching around the time he got to the 90's(about 20-25 mins in). It was the longest Mazda commercial I've ever watched!
