New rear shocks back in stock on Rockauto

I ordered two pairs. Get em while they're here. $30 a side plus shipping in the US.

These are the Monroe 5558 that seem to have been on backorder everywhere...

Has anyone actually installed these on their Mirage yet? Just curious if they are any better than the stock rear shocks.

I think I am going to order a set of these as well as the KYB front struts they show. I have decided to go through this car and give it a real freshening up this spring. New coolant, flush the brakes, new heater core, new shocks/struts, fresh gear oil, buff the paint out, deep clean the interior, etc, etc.

My Mirage will have about 170k by then...and it deserves some extra love. Of course, it will probably get totaled right after I do all this.

Whoa there! Sure hope this doesn't happen. After all we need to hear the results of the refresh.

If you order from Rock Auto and can't turn a wrench, it could be difficult finding a shop to put them in for you I believe?

Dirk this should be an easy project within your reach, especially on a Mirage. If there are any jobs you would be interested in attempting, replacing rear shocks would be a great start. The places to access are fairly easy to get to. Just wait for a nice warm day.

As long as the lower bolt isn't seized to the bushing. I had that happen on one Mirage that I was stripping for parts. Otherwise it's just 1 bolt and one nut per shock.

I'm going to call around and see whose willing to warranty a Rock Auto part or do non-warranty work. I suck at machines unless it's an organic machine lol and I don't trust myself to do the job with absolute certainly in installation.
