I hope your meeting with the body shop & insurance agent goes well today.

I have a good friend who busted up his front bumper (hitting a large raccoon) on his Prius a year or two ago. After he got that fixed, he hit a deer within a couple days. He's a police officer that was headed into work that morning. He was so bummed!

When I was 16 & about to get my driver's license, my younger brother backed a loaded hay wagon into our family car (1977 Chevy Impala). He smashed the grill, but the bumper was still OK. My Dad was mad & said he wasn't going to get it fixed. I wasn't thrilled that our car looked smashed up front, & I was miffed at my brother & dad. About 2-weeks later, my Dad hit a deer with the car. Since my dad did the extra damage, I guess it was ok to take to the body shop & get fixed? It's the only deer damage that I was a bit happy to see.

I sold my last motorcycle in 2018. My fear of hitting a deer was probably the number one reason. I've had some close calls. My former neighbor broke his leg hitting a deer with his motorcycle,& he was lucky it wasn't worst. I miss not having a motorcycle. I preferred getting deer with my compound bow or rifle. I had venison for supper last night.

Hope all goes well for you today!

Don't know how I missed this but glad you're ok.

If you insurance says they want to total it out and your frame isnt bent let me know. I've got some OEM Halogen assemblies that a brand new perfect so we can at least get you the head light fixed and probably shouldnt be to hard to find you a fender.

Btw if your airbag went off your mirage is totaled. They cars hold so little value its gonna be estimated at $4500 to 6000 so its gonna be hard to not total this thing out.

Not sure as to why my door won't open bc either the fender is so pushed out that the door won't open....or the frame is bent but l think the first choice is correct.
Sorry to hear this news, Rally.

Good luck, hope it works out in the end.

I'm only carrying liability with my 2020. So if a deer crashes into me, assuming it's not dead, I'm going to jump out of the Blueberry, chase his ass down in the woods, and commence to whip its ass! Hehehe, like a cartoon. I can just imagine some passerby wondering what the heck is going on, with a random camera in the woods capturing a big stankin Shrek holding a deer down and whomping on it. Would look like something out of the 3 Stooges (us old guys remember that show). "That'll learn ya to damage my Blueberry!"

    Update:

Going in tomorrow to drop my car off, it's getting repaired and thankfully l don't have to pay anything. Still shooken up over it and my body is pretty sore...it wasn't a "love tap"...it was more of "Surprise, it's me-a deer!". But glad everything's working out...

In my opinion, high beams blind deer & just make things worst, but low beams reduce how far you can see. If I know deer are ahead, I slow down (obviously) & switch to low beams.

I had a situation like that once. I had 3 fawns just appear on a 4-lane highway. There wasn't enough time to stop & there was no where to swerve. I just took out the middle one. I had my family in the car at time. It's never fun hitting a deer! It is a bummer!

I am glad to hear your car is going to be taken care of right away. Times like these - insurance is good to have!

Glad no one was hurt. After getting my driver's license I drove for probably 25 years and never hit a deer then suddenly hit two within about a month. Both times I was driving an '88 Ford Escort with a metal bumper so damage was minimal. Not even enough damage to worry about fixing. First time I saw the deer coming and was able to get down to a pretty low speed before impact. Second time I was probably going about 45MPH. I never saw the deer just heard something hit so I turned around to check it out and the deer was laying in the ditch dead.

That's good news. Glad this one is getting put back on the road.

Sorry to hear that you are sore from this. Must have been quite an impact. Glad you are otherwise ok.

I'm no fan of deer after their munching on medlar, white oak, dwarf chinkapin oak, and oakleaf holly I was trying to grow in my suburban back yard. They are a menace to gardeners as well as drivers. Luckily I have made it this far without running into one. What a way to ruin a day!

PawPaw trivia. Deer generally do not eat PawPaw trees and it is one of the few trees that will not be touched when deer are hungry and overpopulated.

Just out of curiosity. Did you feel the ABS kick in during this process?
