This Is How It Is In The UK

I hear that North Americans complain about the lack of small hatchbacks. Me, I don't give a damn what I drive but have always liked 4 door saloons but now very difficult to buy such a car. Am I right in thinking the 4 door is called the G4?
This is what we get here as far as the Mirage goes. How does it compare to what you get over there?

Too bad we don't get the L200 or the Shogun here in North America.

You most assured get the better line up in the UK, but how many people own a pickup truck in merry ole England? Don't most contractors use work vans instead? With fuel costs and taxes I can't imagine CUVs and SUVs selling that well there? I figured most people just owned compacts or subcompacts?

I think the answer to your question is yes/no. I am confused?

    Mirage is a 4-door hatchback.
    Mirage G4 is a 4-door sedan.
Your ASX is our Outlander Sport.
We don't have the L200 or Shogun Sport models.

I would trade our G4 for your L200!

Can't believe you don't get the L200 or Shogun over there. Surely there'd be a market for them.

There are numerous pick up trucks here in Yorkshire (and other shires) simply because it's not far from being in very rural country.
Yes vans are more common for deliveries. The majority of cars sold are the compacts (B segment for Europe & Supermini for UK)
The roads in Yorkshire are pretty much traffic free so easy to get around. Over the years I've come to appreciate the supermini. Back in the 70's they were crude, noisy, cold and downright nasty, not these days.

    Taken from goggle below.

7 Best Pickup Trucks UK 2020
Isuzu D Max. Price: from £17,414 or from £224pcm leasing. ...
    Mercedes-Benz X-Class. Price: from £29,365 or from £332.99pcm leasing. ...
Nissan Navara. Price: from £22,350 or from £259pcm leasing. ...
Mitsubishi L200. Price: from £21,420 or from £235pcm leasing. ...
    Volkswagen Amarok. ...
    Toyota Hilux. ...
    Ford Ranger.

Even Fiat has a pick up, the Fiat Fullback, look closely and it's a L200 lightly disguised.

We don't get the G4 here in blighty more's the pity, just the hatchback.
I cannot fathom why you don't get the L200....... Does it meet US legiskation?

Fiat brought out the Fullback a few years ago, look closely abd it's a rebadged L200.

Chicken tax laws prevent the US from importing trucks. They have to be made in North America apparantly?

What? Why on earth is that then? Surely competition is allowed or is it to save the US made brands?
Never heard of Chicken Tax laws.

I think there could be a market for a small truck over here but it seems most people just want to drive bigger vehicles. Most people I know that own full size trucks don't ever haul anything other than grocery's in the box. At work we ended up with little mexican built Nissan cargo vans which are set to be discontinued later this year...
