Whoa! I guess the bureaucratic overhead of the UK leaving the EU made it so that, in the end, it was cheaper for Mitsubishi to just cut their losses. That's wild.
Thanks Atom, this comes as no surprise really, it's been on the cards for sometime. The brand never really made it good within these shores. My friend had a Mitsubishi Lancer I had a Mitsubishi Colt but few and far between were Mitsubishi's here.
There have been many marques that have quit the UK, one of my favourites being Lancia, well you've heard of sex on legs but Lancia was sex upon rubber.
It's a shame really, irrespective of our divorce from (oh God, that word again) Europe, if the brand don't sell well it costs a fortune to keep alive a dealership, wherever on planet earth it may be.
So Long Mitsubishi.
Growing old is compulsory- Growing up is optional
I guess Mitsubishi is content on letting Renault manufacture its models in France?
I sort of overlooked Mitsubishi was pulling out of the UK. I just noticed rebadged Renault models may become part of their line up in Europe.
If the Alliance isn't doing well, Mitsubishi may continue to take some hits. Let's hope they don't become the next Oldsmobile, Pontiac, or Saturn. Even Toyota cut their Scion line up. Nissan has the dealership network here. I don't seem them going anywhere.
By the way - our somewhat popular White Bear Mitsubishi dealership in Minnesota was a Saturn dealership. When they lost Saturn, they became a Mitsubishi dealership.
