    Yep... another one...

Oh... I swear. Don't watch at work or whatever. Sorry!

Yeah... what have I done now? 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage DE CVT. Previous rental car and then the second owner drove it until it started to act up. This thing is gross but should be cleaned up and fixable pretty easy. The engine noise though... I don't like that. It was built in March so it doesn't qualify for the replacement engine according to the service bulletin. Any ideas what makes them tick like that? I haven't had to tear into the engines on these things that much but it really sounds like a lifter ticking to me which would make sense since the engine oil is nasty and gross.

    What the $#%&! I can't un-see that. I owned a 1987 Grand National many years ago.

The body seems pretty straight and the paint doesn't look too bad for a black car.

One of these days I need to drive a CVT Mirage. I wouldn't know if that trans was bad or behaving normally.

Sounds like a Mirage that has been neglected. If the engine oil is that gross, I would change oil, run it for few hundred miles, and change oil/filter again.

Makes one wonder if they ever had any maintenance done on it? How many miles are on it?

It's had cvt service apparently. Oil shouldn't be as bad as it is but it had lots of really short run times over the past few weeks since it was replaced and we all know these cars hate that lol. But yeah... Definitely neglected.

I was going to say that it's only running on three cylinders then I realised they only have three
It looks and sounds sad, a bit of TLC will do it the world of good.

Toss some seafoam in with the oil and run it a couple hundred miles.

Mark it has 124,000 miles. And yes I plan on changing its oil and putting seafoam in it and running it for a while.

That would be quite impressive - 124,000 miles and no maintenance lol.

Your tow vehicle looks like another Mirage? Wouldn't be the first time.

I'm sure it's had a few oil changes. The tow vehicle is my 2019 Outlander Sport for this trip. Trying to save money on fuel so the Tacoma got to chill this time. Mirages are light enough it pulled the car with authority.
