Picked up my first Mirage last Monday

    Hello
I've always wanted a Mirage since they came to Canada and finally have one!
    2019 ES+ for $11k with only 20,000kms.
Reminds me of my old Pontiac Firefly: so little power but lots of fuel savings.

    Welcome, lemmy!

Congrats on your new to you Mirage. Where did you get it & what transmission did you get?

There are a handful of members in the Ottawa area (I'm an hour south, on the St Lawrence).

How long since you had your Firefly? I still have a few... more than a few other members here have the same affliction. :-D

I can tell you the Mirage is a decadent luxury/performance automobile by comparison.

I had to get the CVT for my daughter because she is practicing for her upcoming drivers test. Got it at Orleans Mitsubishi.
When I feel the need to drive a stick then I borrow my friend's Micra.
Been almost 20 years since I had the Firefly and that was an auto so the Mirage feels just like it.

I never had the pleasure of driving an automatic 1.0L Firefly/Metro. I recall those were pretty antiquated 3-speed automatics... with NO locking torque converter.

Perhaps the most surprising thing is that you have driven a Micra and yet you bought a Mirage.

Fuel economy must have been the priority.

To me too! Welcome here. Mine gets about 4.2 - 4.3/L 100km, being better than 50mpg/US, dunno exactly how that translates.
I had a few Suzuki Swift, all manual, and was rather active in the TeamSwift forum almost 2 decades ago. If you were happy with your Firefly, you shall be happy with the Mirage! If it still looks good from underneath, you could de-rust, undercoat and paint the axles to make them last forever. Otherwise they will rust, your decision.

Rust proofing is next on the list for the Mirage.
