Less body roll in the 2021 model!

I traveled on dome back roads in my 2021 G4 and was also impressed with the ride improvement compared to my 17 hatch. The 17 would bottom out and float and that is pretty much gone in the 21 sedan. Maybe the spring rates were increased since all else appears the same?

My 2021 hatch is handling speed bumps better than I anticipated. I was expecting a lot more bounce based on what I've read. Perhaps the suspension has improved with the exterior refresh.

I highly doubt they have changed the suspension since 2017. Heck, they haven't even changed the wheel covers for the ES since 2017. 2017-22 come with the same wheel covers for steel rims.

If they upgraded the suspension, Mitsubishi would be tooting their horn about it!

I show a different part number for the rear spring between 2017 and 2021 model hatchback. It looks like the new rear spring started in 2020. SO maybe they tooted their horns then or it is a downgraded suspension.🤷*♂️
Front springs were the same number depending on CVT or manual trans.

Body roll feels the same to me, going from a 2014 to a 2021. Braking is a little better though. I liked to see this new rear spring, as I could be wrong. Link?

Dirk - Just go do a whole bunch of "Moose Tests." If you can manage to get your car to roll over, it's either the same spring or an ineffective change. If you can get it to roll over, I guess you could discontinue further testing at that point. Let us know how it turns out!

I drive Atlanta freeways, there's no need for "moose" test when I can swerve doing an "as$hole in a BMW texting" test. Lol

Seriously though, I can't find any info about a stronger change in rear springs?

I don't think the suspension has been changed much since 2017. This lists the 2018-2020 Mirages as having the same rear coil spring -

I will have look a bit harder to see if the 2017 is different, but I know the 2017-2020 G4 never changed. The G4 appeared in 2017.

There's been no mention of the suspension being improved with the 2021 update, but that doesn't mean something hasn't been done. I just don't suspect it has been done.

What part # did you find for the 2017, and what made you believe 2020 was different than the earlier years?

I've noticed that when the roads are crappy many Audi drivers act like they have something stuck up their rectum. Then turn back to normal once the roads are clear. It's very strange.

I looked up the part numbers for the rear spring for a 2018 Mirage and a 2020 mirage
For the 2018 hatch I show 4140A469 for the 2020 I show 4140A470.
I use a website through work called repairlink.
It accesses dealer info and can order parts through local dealerships. It is more accurate with a VIN but when not using the VIN it just gives all options. When I have problems with aftermarket parts look up I usually find my answer there. I didn't dig real deep but that is what I found. Not something I would bet my paycheck on but maybe lunch at subway.
