Top 5 Mitsubishi Mirage Myths Debunked

I just got back from a 360 mile road trip for business. We took our 2017 Mirage (got 47 MPG!) and it got me to thinking about some of the myths associated with this car. I put together a Top 5 Mitsubishi Mirage Myths Debunked post on Subcompact Culture.

What other misconceptions have you heard about these cars?

My father used to say there was a distant relationship, but I don't think that's truly the case. I haven't been able to verify it.

You don't hear it too much, and I'm a flight nut, so it stuck with me. I agree, I think you hit the major myths. Maybe any complaints about a bad ride? Darn near floaty stock, and just right with the rear swaybar. For its size, I'd say its pretty good.

MYTH: There are better new cars available. You can buy a new [insert model here] for nearly the same price of a Mirage.

This argument seems to be part of most Mirage reviews. It's usually because the reviewer is comparing MSRP numbers, not actual prices paid by buyers. When they are reviewing an $18,000 top-trim Mirage, this really makes the Mirage look like a poor value.

    ^ Variation on the above:

    - "For the same money you're better off buying a nicer used car than a Mirage"

    Also:

    - "Better not buy a car from Mitsu in the US/Canada because the company's days here are numbered."

    Good article, Andy!

Great article Andy. Hate to be that guy, but on the Daox sway bar mention, you have the website as MirageForm

Gah! Thank you for the proofreading! I'll change it now. Also, never hesitate to be "that guy." Much appreciated.

    Good article, Andy!
I contemplated adding this, but I didn't want to get into the whole deal. Maybe for another article.
