    Weird liquid in trunk floor

    Hello,

Bought my mirage used it has this weird liquid in the trunk floor. Normally I’d assume the last owner spilt something in the truck. But my trunk carpet and plastic trim and wooden spare tire cover are all perfectly clean. I’ve attached a photo of the liquid below. It has the consistency of very thick oil and is sticky to the touch. Has anyone experienced something similar to this? Could it be from the factory?Name: B6685C99-47B2-4E04-ABA7-FF30D8E71314.jpg

Certainly not from the factory! Probably the previous owner knows nothing about it. Maybe a rattle can of cavity spray leaked?
I would remove the stuff from around the perimeter for protecting it and start cleaning the crap out. There is a big rubber plug in the left upper of your picture that you could take out while cleaning to make it easier.

What does it smell like? It looks like used motor oil - maybe a container spilled on the way to the recycling center? I know a body shop owner who would use old motor oil for rust prevention though that's probably illegal.

I just cleaned my spare tire well out a couple of weeks ago when I installed my weather techs and it had a similar smudge on it. Not as much, but similar.
