Side light / passenger side blinker fell off

My right side turn signal blinker fell off today / fell out of the car and dangling on a wire like a tooth. I was washing my car by hand. I did notice it was getting lose for some time. Then when I giggled at it, came right out. The clip broke after I got the whole mechanism out.

Blinker still works fine, I have it taped on my car nice and flush, and then I will get some clear glue tomorrow, and be careful gluing it back on. Maybe there is another way.

TopFuel: thanks for the response, I made a new thread here but thanks for the response, yea it's the blinky light version of that aftermarket thing you have there. I was thinking of a tiny winy drop of superglue in two strategic spots, so I can pull it out again and only rip off unseen part of the paint.

I'm dealing with a 1/8" here. But if I do it right, that's my best option I can think of. The wiring is fine, blinks fine.. just held on with tape. I would take a picture, just getting dark.

Here is a post where I described the same thing that happened to mine. I just replaced it with another cheap aftermarket one.

I'd suggest silicone instead of super glue.

Thanks, I was thinking about using silicone actually. I'll try to get a photo later after I'm back from getting curbside pickup, happens to be bathroom caulking that I'm getting at Lowe's.
Still gotta keep in mind a little goes a long way using it as an adhesive.

I guess your new ones have the clip then eh Top Fuel?

Yes...same design. I think the aftermarket lights are just using a cheaper grade of plastic. The little plastic clip that holds tension on the light assembly (to keep it attached to the fender) eventually cracks. When there's no tension, the light assembly eventually falls out of the fender hole. I'm sure a drop of clear silicone (like CobraJet suggested) will hold them on with no problem.

    Before and after my repair.

Honestly a few things for the next sucker this happens to. I cleaned the area with spit. I used clear silicone, and a toothpick to precisely get the silicone to hold the side light, but also not ooze out. Plus the actual side light is not completely sealed so don't get crazy with a lot of goop. Enough silicone could muck the insides up like an abstract painting. A little goes a long way.

I did a few dry fits. Then once the silicone was applied and the light back attached on my car, I put tape on to hold it for a day or so for the silicone to dry.

Side light fell off again, so the silicone I got doesn't hold. The higher speeds on the 400 highways did it. Almost lost my new jays cap to the wind as well.
