Plastic Cover on Centre Consol

On a 2018 mitsibushi mirage es there is a small flat Plastic Cover on Centre Consol next to the gear shift on right side.I lifted it up and i think there is a button I pushed it down nothing happened.What is that used for is it to lift consol up or what is it used for

Shift lock release mechanism I think, that allows you to move the cvt stick anywhere you like if it's stuck for some reason.

Mine has the slot on the left instead of the right, I don't know how to really use it, I'll have to fiddle next time.
