I do the Techron treatment once every 3 months or so.

Does your other Mirage burn the same gas?

I'm getting noticeably better economy in the black car running stock tires than I did in the white car running taller 175 winter tires year-round.
My Vision Cross 14x5.5" alloys weigh 16lbs.
Barums 175 65 r14 tires weigh 14lbs. Total of 30lbs per combo. What's the OEM combo weight?

Well I did a 45 min hwy drive and got up to 40mpg and did a fill up with manual calculation and it showed a whopping 39mpg! At first I didn't know why my mpg is all over the place but then I remembered twice a week I go into one of my jobs early, sometimes 45 mins early to avoid traffic and I'll sit in my car with the AC on the whole time till I have to go in. I wonder if this was the reason why I was getting 30mpg on certain weeks?

You sit in the car with the engine idling and the AC on?

If someone asked me for suggestions on how to hurt their fuel mileage, I would say:

    1. Idle a lot
    2. Use your AC
    3. Combine 1 & 2 for best results

That's a pretty big detail to leave out when complaining about your low mileage.

I filled up yesterday. The bulk of the last tank would have been coming home from my parents early last week. That was a 4-hour trip (4-lane @ 70+ mph for some of the trip & 2-lane highways @ 60+ mph). Drove the entire distance with the driver's window down & rear windows down about 2". NO A/C used obviously. Fairly nice late afternoon/evening conditions. Very worn Federal tires up front & Dunlop tires in the rear @ approximately 40 psi. I also made several trips to town the past few days, which is about 10-12 miles one way. I have steep hills to climb in my area. I am in third gear by the time I reach the top of the ridge I live on.

My last tank yesterday was 339.9 miles/7.345 gallons = 46.3 mpg. (always do two clicks off @ the pump)

I never look at the mpg gauge on my dash. I calculate at the pump. I am usually 45+ mpg during the summer months.

    Dirk, 3 things.

    1. When you're sitting and idling (stopped, with or without A/C), your car is getting WORSE mpg than a Top Fuel dragster on its run down the drag strip.
    2. Your vehicle has rear rotors? (Hint: Your dealer's notes).
    3. I bet you could give a new meaning to having POT Roast.
