Not "they folded", but more like "they were folded"!
Remember, they had become part of GM.

Reminds me of Opel, GM's major involvement in Europe. Opel was bought by GM ages ago, and became GM's think and intelligence centre. The amount of patents GM received from Opel was enormous. When Opel needed to use "their" patents for their own production, they had to pay to do so. GM let them sell to certain markets, but forbad them to sell to others. Many GM products in all parts of the world were actually Opel-designed or at least partly Opel designed, but branded differently and sold for GM or one of their many other badges or brands.

When GM became threatened by bankruptcy, they sold loads of their European assets, welcomed the quickly made money being needed elsewhere, but their foreign involvements had to lease "their" productionally vital assets back from new owners. Imagine the house where you and your family lived for generations were suddenly sold for somebody else's profit, and you were forced to lease it back. Would you be able to survive? When they finally gave up SAAB, I wonder what was really left to be given up, other than jobs, debts and a reputed brand name? Meanwhile, what was left of Opel and Vauxhall has also been sold. Most important GM saved themselves from banktruptcy - so sorry for SAAB, Opel and others...

They are Swedish. I love my Saab. And yes, they "folded"...sorta. Saab still exists, but they no longer make passenger cars.

They slapped Saab badges on some odd vehicles, the trailblazer and wrx I believe.

Yep, the Trailblazer was one of them. Called the '9-7x'. And the Impreza was the '9-2x'...aka the "Saabaru". The WRX was cloned as Saab's performance trim across their entire range, known as the '9-2x Aero'. Lesser 9-2x models were the same as regular Imprezas.

Mine is an '04 9-3 'Arc' (middle trim). In terms of styling, it looks like a Saab 900 mated with a Chevy Cavalier. To me, at least.

Oh, well. It was cheap and is fun to drive.
