    New owner, new member!

Hi everyone! Thanks for being a great community and helping me to decide finally on a 2021 Space Star which I got a few days ago and have been driving it all the time. Coming from a crappy old diesel car (pretty popular in Europe), I gotta say I'm amazed at the current fuel economy I'm getting, at around 5.3L/100km or 44MPGs. I'm here to share my experiences in the long run!

Thank you! Still in the break-in period, so driving carefully so far

Welcome, george! First member from Macedonia, I think.

Glad you're enjoying the Space Star. What transmission did you get? Feel free to make a garage page: Garage empty: add car

I'm also curious what your crappy old diesel car was.

Thanks! I think so too as I was lurking this forum & didn't find anyone else.

I got the manual, a pretty much standard decision here in this part of the world. Apart from the brake-in period that I've read on the forums, I'm pretty satisfied with it - because as I've said, coming from a diesel car (low-end torque) - I thought it was going to be hard for me to adjust to petrol, being previously able to go uphill with just releasing the clutch, or starting from 3rd gear and what not I like the fact that the clutch pedal is light on your leg, again compared with the diesel - even a bicycle is better.

I had a Renault Clio 1.5dci (2003) before this, and it's quite the step up. Even though I could easily average around 3.6L/100km (65mpg) on the highway (no AC), it still doesn't long term compare with the Space Star. I had to repair the fuel injectors (diesel fuel injectors are very pricey), had a ton of problems with the ECU - the engine would randomly stop working, so changing to a petrol car was the only logical solution. A petrol car with a warranty as well!

The reason for buying a new car and not going with a 2nd hand one was that - the warranty and the worst possible second hand market here in MK. The base Space Star costs around 9200 euros (1.2), and similar cars from 10 years ago, can go easily for 4000 euros, which is madness considering they have around 180 000 km on their clocks.

A bonus fact! Although people think that the Dacia Sandero is the ultimate economy car from Europe - it is not, atleast in MK. For 11 000 euros here, you can get a base model Sandero with no A/C and a 900cc motor, or a fully loaded Space Star (1.2L) with alloy wheels + infotainment.

Hello george and welcome to the forum. Hope you make entries for the forum Garage & Fuel Economy Log so we can keep track of your Space Star.

Thanks! That's the plan. Taking it slow the first 500kms (~300miles), I'll be adding entries to the log after that
