It looks like your one outer pad wore more than the rest. You are correct. The slide pins that were sticking caused that pad to wear out faster than the rest. Not because race car.

I think it took me about 2 hours to replace both my rotors + pads. Being in the salt belt states, it wasn't too bad after letting WD40 marinate the bolts for 10-15 minutes.

Edit: This is a pretty dope pic of early Mirages drifting. Props to these guys for pulling off some sweet slides and the photographer, hopefully they're on this forum!!

For some reason that looks like it has been photoshopped…

Updated the thread title to reflect the discussion of grease. I too used the brake grease available in those small sized packets sold in Autozone.

I always knew those small sized packets at the point of sale were upsells but in truth they're actually selling the right grease for the slide pins and at just the right amount needed to finish the job. I regretted not spending the $2 or whatever it was.

1 packet is enough for both front sides with some left over. BTW the Rockauto kit (Quietmaster brake pads and rotor) come with a Quietmaster packet of brake grease which I have for next time.

I replaced mine last week with Raybestos pads and it wasn't quite as easy as I was expecting although it wasn't terrible. The little nubs on the brake pad didn't fit into the holes and had to be ground down and whoever had it apart last way over tightened the slide pins. Still only took about an hour and a half though.
