    Transmission fluid replacement

So when you're replacing the CVT transmission fluid, the service manual says to stop adding fluid if the dipstick reads full, even if you haven't added all the fluid back yet.
Does anyone know how this happens?

it says this incase the transmission was previously over/under filled. if you have a perfectly level ground you are working on. the service manual says exactly how much fluid to put in, i think its like 2.63 quarts.

I wouldn't fill to the top of the diptstick if it's not at operating temperature, it gets higher so you'll end up with too much. I'd fill to the lowest mark then get it up to temp and then fine tune until it was in the H zone.

It's frustrating though because the fluid is hard to see and runny, especially so when warm.

On a related side note, if you are ultra scared of getting the fluid level incorrect if you were to drop the pan then the amount of fluid you need to add to the transmission should always be the same irrelevant of the angle of the vehicle(i.e on jack stands).

Hard to see is understatement! Mine overfilled from factory unless it should be running while checking. Does it need to be running?
