So BSFC is only for acceleration? When I reach a desired speed... which is best? 80 km/h(50mph) or 90 km/h(56mph). I have found 50 mph to be a sweet spot, am I wrong? Keep in mind I have EU spec car...

I've been shifting at 1500 rpm with light acceleration. With that I get pretty good fuel economy, and I feel it is less wear and tear on the vehicle as a whole. Hopefully, things last longer such as tires, brakes & clutch.

I like to drive it like a sports car often and that means I probably shift in a way that doesn't help my fuel economy, lol.. Plus I have a habit of grinding gears at least once a week. I forget sometimes...

It is possible to shift like you do. but at least my engine strugles to get up at speed if the car is shifted at 1500. I shift at no more than 2000-3000 rpm. I drive a lot 50 mph'ish. But I get good fuel economy. computer always tells me 25+ km/L and when I do the math I get 23 km/L. So I'm happy enough with economy so far

Between 2-3k RPM, up to 4k RPM if I need to get up to speed a little quicker. Very rarely up to 5-5.5k.

I drive like Cleartec but usually drive a bit less than 80km/h, just about 2000rpm if i can (if i can drive at that speed without being an ASS to other drivers )

well I got 28.4 km/L when I did the math after filling up the tank. Computer told me the same. So I guess sweet spot is around 70-80 km/h, but at 70 km/h it does better regarding fuel economy. Look up my fuel log for the most recent fill up. If I can I will always keep the engine at 70 km/h at highest gear. Only if traffic alows it

Ares,
. . . . I like to accelerate up to speed and then cruise. Around town I shift at about 4K rpm. When I am getting up to speed on a highway I shift at 6.5K rpm except for 4th gear because the engine won't rev that high in 4th. I average 40 on the highway at 75 mph. I see 50 around town. On one trip I had a tail wind going South, a tail wind going West, a tail wind coming back North, and a tail wind coming back East. I averaged 50 at 75 mph with the air on. I caught the weather pattern just right. Of course going West up the front range of the Rockies with a 25 to 30 mph head wind at 80 mph I was seeing 19.1 mpg.
GOD Bless and Thanks,
rich!
