In my mind, it's just bad. The Mirage will join a long list of vehicles that I would never consider after they dropped the manual transmission option.

I really dislike the trends in the auto industry. I just hope some old lady currently owns a 2019 ES manual (manual climate controls), & she takes it to church & the grocery store once a week. When I wear out my current Mirage, 10-15 years from now, I want first dibs on her low mileage Mirage.

Sadly, I don't expect something better to come along 10-15 years from now, but who knows? In the meantime, I am content with what I have, & I wouldn't buy a new car with today's prices anyways. Used manuals still exist, but they are becoming more rare.

The dropping of color options with the manual was a sign this could happen in my mind. Very sad news! I suspect Nissan models will take over the brand some day.

I'd be surprised if the Mirage is not discontinued worldwide after 2023 to be honest. For the European region, this has been rumored for quite some time I believe (in Europe Mitsubishi is expected to sell rebadged Renault cars mostly, starting somewhere in 2023).

There allegedly have been quotes from Mitsubishi's product planner, stating that we shouldn't expect an official successor to the Mirage, IIRC?

Mitsubishi vehicles will become Renaults in Europe & Nissans in North America. The current Outlander in North America is just the beginning of the end for Mitsubishi.

It will become like buying a Buick verses a Chevy or a Hyundai versus a KIA. I felt the Alliance would kill the identity of Mitsubishi eventually, but I had hoped otherwise. I don't see a Mitsubishi in my future outside of used Mirage manuals maybe. Then again, anyone can turn things around, including Nissan. Who knows?

So one of the sales guy from White Bear texted me yesterday saying that...

the 2022 Mirage will be the last manual transmission Mirage.

Let's hope that is misinformation from a salesman trying to push you into buying one of their manual transmission cars.

Check this out... White Bear had something like 16 2022 5-speed Mirages less than a month ago.

Today they have 5.

That's because they have all the manuals in North America in stock there.

I joke, but it seems that way sometimes.
