Merry Christmas, Mirage is all you need for a commuter. Has a seat and heater and a radio. Luxury is relative, I would have found my Mirage a luxury car 20 years ago. You just sit in a Mirage and you just sit in a Rolls Royce. I don't buy fancy or expensive pants for the same reason.

A highlight from 2020. I'd have to say my trailer towing thread https://mirageforum.com/forum/showth...ight=7milesout demonstrated some fairly useful information.
1. When towing with a Mirage, always tow huge monster loads with large trailers with heavy tongue loads for maximum stability. And that,
2. If you do tow with a Mirage, keep the loads reasonable and use a trailer that is in good shape as well.
It is amazing just how useful the Mirage is. Keep your towed loads reasonable. I also found it extremely amazing that with careful driving, and with my trailer's gate laid down flat to the floor (thus eliminating most of the wind drag), that I could get 34.5 mpg. That is tremendous.
It really is a helluva vehicle for the money.

Only once or twice so far. Excellent performance from my snow tires, you just feel more confident about grip, traction, the ability to drive through the conditions. Haven't been on gravel roads yet with them on. I wonder also how snow tires will be on a day the roads are rough and jarring, like the day after a snowstorm and road closure. Like when you are reminded of how low the car sits to the ground.
I want to try my all-weathers in wintery conditions at some point as well. My Mirage is the dirtiest car in the parking lot this time of year.

In 2021 I put a lot of miles on my 2018 Mirage SE. Among the trips were a 2,000+ mile late January run to Mt. Rushmore (never been there) and the Rapid City area from Chicago, and a 3,000+ mile trip to the East Coast in late summer. I saw old friends, an aunt and uncle who are in their 90s, and visited places I hadn't seen since I was a kid in the 1960s. The states I visited: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, and Massachusettes. Sights included: Flight 93 National Memorial, Antietam National Battlefied, Ocean City Maryland, Cape Cod, Niagara Falls, Harper's Ferry National Park, and a few other places in between.
I even drove over the top of Manhattan (George Washington Bridge?) which was 40 minutes of sheer terror!
All in all the little Mirage is a good-riding comfy highway cruiser. I'm a 67 year old retiree and the low cost of driving this buggy allows me to take off on a road trip at anytime. Also, this is my first new car purchase in 50 years with an automatic. And I LOVE the CVT!!! There, I said it.
A year full of highlights. And the 2018 Mirage will hit 100,000 miles sometime in January! Next year.....West Coast.

Not sure this is a highlight?!?
2021 may be remembered as the last time you could get a new Mirage at a discount.

That sounds like a good time. I miss travelling so much, really opens your eyes up to how other people live. More random situations like when I drove around Alberta in 2019 in my Santa Fe rental. Ended up seeing some folks with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere, ask if they needed my CAA.
Then the next day I got lost in Edmonton and ended up getting directions to the big mall there from a street beggar asking me for money, outside a tim hortons parking lot. You have to keep your wits about you when you travel, but help others along the way.
