    New Silver ES

    Hi All,

I've lurked on this site for a long time. I've been impressed by how the owners love the car and praise its reliability.

I've owned larger and more fully-featured cars in the past, but this car with its simple style is really all I need or want at my current place in life. When I was younger, I liked new digital speedometers and advance designed dashboards. Now I find it a bit overwhelming and I just want to get into my car and get where I need to go.

I'm looking forward to many fun years with my car.

    Congrats on your new Mirage!

If you take care of it, I think your new Mirage will take care of you for a long, long time.

Welcome aboard Little Magician, glad you're liking your new car. That is a really good photo. Mirage is a practical and basic car. My own 2014 has gotten me around nearly 8 years now.

You can drive all day and never have to fill up, and when you need gas it's only 8.5 gallons to fill up, so win win and the gift that keeps on giving.

Welcome to the Thunderdome. I just got a new ES too in infrared, it replaced my 2014 Mirage. I paid a total price of $18,039.99, about $3k more than what I should of in this crazy market, but I needed a car. What was your OTD price in Illinois? If you don't mind me asking.

    Hi Dirk,

Thanks for the welcome! My ES came with CVT, armrest/storage, and all-weather floor mats and cargo tray. I say this so I won't feel too badly when I report the price.

My out-the-door with TTL was $18,472.

I will say that relatively speaking, we still got good deals when it's compared to alternatives. Used Mirages are selling for the same or only a few thousand less and the least expensive new options from Kia and Nissan are priced $3K-$5K more. Heck, I found a Mitsubishi dealership who wanted $2K more than MSRP for a new Mirage.

I think the car market in general will be reset and not in a good way. Car manufacturers have gotten a taste of earning higher profits while selling fewer cars. Couple this with growing customer appetite for crossovers and SUVs means more expensive vehicles will be made and sold. With competition pricing like this, are Mitsubishi dealership going to be willing to sell cars at a discount?

I have an iPhone but I'll check the next time an Android-toting friend is with me.

I haven't had a chance to test that, but I will.

Little Magician - Congratulations. I agree that the picture of your car is good. And, the original wheel covers are now sort of growing on me. Yes, I think they're a touch ugly, however, they do represent "original," and "new." Which appeals to me.

I put some cheapie aftermarket wheel covers on mine that I actually think look quite good. However, the cheapie wheel covers are getting eat up. I believe it is happening in the car wash ... I don't hit curbs (it's against my laws, rules, regulations and policies).

In any event, don't sweat the price you paid. It is a relevant scale these days. Meaning, even though it is more expensive to buy a new (or used) Mirage these days, other cars are more expensive too. And in the long run, you're still money-ahead with the Mirage. I'm assuming you got a CVT.
