Thread: 2015 Front end swap onto a 2017 Mirage. Condensers are different.

2015 Front end swap onto a 2017 Mirage. Condensers are different.

    I'm currently swapping a 2015 Mirage front end onto a 2017 Mirage.

I know from the past that the 2017 and 2015 rad fans look the same but have different connectors that only interchange if you swap pigtails.
But I didn't know(or forgot) that the ac condensers are different between 2015 and 2017. Physically they look similar but the lines are clocked differently and will not work unless you replace the lines to the compressor and evaporator with 2015 parts. Maybe..

I figured I'd post this for future reference or for whoever cares.

I'll add more changes as I finish this up later. Or if there is a thread about changes feel free to post a link. I could only find one about suspension and brake changes. I thought there was a thread about different part numbers and changes throughout the years but can't find it.

Turns out I don't have a spare 2017 condenser but I do have 2015 ac lines. So now it's gonna have a 2017 rad fan, 2015 condenser and ac lines(from compressor to condenser and condenser to evaporator). This car is gonna be a pita to repair down the road but that's a future me problem.

The upper tie bar(top bar on rad support) is also slightly different. The only change that I noticed is the 2017 part has a threaded hole and one extra mount tab where the little plastic air guide mounts. I'll use the 2017 part if it isn't tweaked.

Just found one more change...The fenders are the same between 2015 and 2017+ but the plastic piece that the end of the bumper snaps into on the front lower edge of the fender is not the same between years. Oh and the paint is a different shade of white too. 2014 and early production 2015's came in plain white. Late production 2015's and all 2017's came in the pearly white.

    2017 is the larger one(cleaner),

Are you replacing the front end for something to do, or is this a damaged car?

I coulda sworn I explained why already but I guess not. No I'm not doing this just for fun.
This car rear ended someone a while back. 2017 front end parts were months away and stupid expensive. I suggested just tossing a 2015 front clip on it cause we had two 2015's hit in the rear 1/4 panels (like dirks) that aren't being repaired.

How are you gonna fasten the new bumper with those clips not being interchangeable? Are you saving the front 1/4 panel on the passenger side?

Gotta say seeing some of the crash photos of Mirages on here this little car does hold its own better than I would think.

I guess this thread isn't very straight forward as I had hoped. I'll go back and read it and see if I can make it easier to follow along.

The plastic pieces are removable. I removed the 2017 part from the drivers side fender and installed the 2015 piece. You can't use the 2017 plastic piece with a 2015 bumper cover.

And no, the passenger side fender is screwed, I installed the 2015 rh fender(and plastic piece).

    So far I replaced the rh headlight(sure), rad support(2015), rads(2015), (re-used the old rad fan),2 ac lines(2015),hood(2015),bumper cover(2015),rh fender(2015),lh fender to bumper clip thinger(2015),hood latch(2015).
And of course the lower fender bolt behind the plastic rocker trim snapped off flush. Nothing a couple self taping screws cant fix(provided you don't try to drill into a spot weld).
