Finally got around to doing this and it worked like a charm! The low fob battery warning on the instrument cluster that I could not clear even with a scan tool has vanished...for the moment at least.

As you said, it must have simply been an error or glitch in the system.

Hi, I did have same KOS error indicator in my Mitsubishi Xpander. I can clear it by touching the start button with key fob then push it.
I don't know if it can be done with Mirage, but You can try it first before unplug the battery.
