Im having similar issues. 2018 mirage hb 5speed 145k … 2nd gear is a sob to get into. Where should I start? New Cables? Or examine shifter?

Replace factory fill gear oil with Redline MTL. Makes a world of difference. And yes, you are getting to the point that your shifter may be wearing out. I had to replace mine at 176k. New ones are pretty cheap and replacing them is pretty easy.

I'm using Redline MTL in my OS and it made a difference with easier smoother shifts. I know others here on the forum have used it also in their Mirage's and have reported improved shifting.

Shifting to 2nd gear is not smooth even in a brand new car. Lots of complaints. So, it appears to get worse over time.
