thanks for the response, but not looking for clutch. looking for shift cable adjustments.

Where is the adjustment for the shift cables? Or is there any? I skimmed through a service manual and found nothing.

What are you trying to do? Do you think your shifter isn't precise...or ?!?

Here's another thread that might be worth looking at:

    Manual transmission Worn out shifter!

had a hard upshift, since then cant downshift from 3rd to 2nd without attempting to bump 1st gear a few times. it seems the cable that lifts the drum is pushing at a late pause like it's stretched from the hard shift.

Sorry, I missed your response earlier. At the transmission hold bracket, the cable has a nut formed on the housing. I'm wondering if that is an adjustment point.

Just repeating what Fummins said before... there's nothing in the service manual that talks about adjusting anything at the transmission.

Here's the diagnostic section for hard manual transmission shifting. Not terribly helpful...but this is pretty typical for the service manual...

Thanks Top Fuel. Likely the nut is just a crimping & just a fixed cable. I'll have to take a much closer look.
from the way it feels, I've pulled the cable end a bit causing the problem. Thanks again

They aren't adjustable. If there is a problem with the cables they will have to be replaced, and, as shown in the service manual diagram, they are all one unit. I thought cable stretch might be the problem causing the sloppy shifting in my car so I bought the cables along with the shifter. Turned out the plastic shifter was worn out.

How many miles do you have? Have you ever changed the gear oil?
