Well this is disheartening news... (quitting sedans?)

So despite the Mirage sales, and facelift spyshots, is this the actual future?

"Mitsubishi Gives Up On Sedans, To Make Only SUVs Henceforth"

According to the Australian site CarAdvice, Mitsubishi has halted work altogether on the next generation of its Lancer compact sedan.
The company will instead focus exclusively on a range of SUVs in various sizes, meaning its current sedans may not be replaced for years--if ever.

What I'm reading here is they've stopped developing new cars, because of a possible deal with Renault/Samsung, and that they will focus on developing crossovers.

They aren't going to stop carrying/selling current cars like the mirage and lancer - but any new models currently on the drawing board are being halted, for now. I see the Mirage sedan as a current car, since there are some on the road already in different countries.

Agreed - the GCR headline is kind of click-baity and misleading.

    a possible deal with Renault
Oh, that deal has been cancelled. Which is probably the source of the "no more sedans" speculation.

That's what I was hoping! I really want to see the Mirage Sedan in the US!

Me too - I think they will be a lot more popular than the hatchback.

The US is definitely getting the sedan. It's just a question of when: later this year or early 2016 is what we've been seeing from the most official sources (quotes in various articles from US Mitsu execs).

    Not sure about Canada though.

Ha. No problem. I hate it when external links change/die. So I like to post a snippet of the outside page in the forum for posterity.

There is no way the lancer's going to stay the same any longer, 8 years is wayyy too long.

When it stops being profitable to sell, they will just stop making it.
