Question A question regarding rear bumper fitment on a mirage (newer to older)

    Hey folks

Does anybody happen to know for sure if a rear bumper from 2016-2020 Mirage/Space Star like on the first picture would fit/mount properly as a replacement on a 2012-2015 Mirage/Space Star like on the second picture?

I don't know officially. But I think the chances are pretty good. The attachment area and structure I would guess are the same. The question would be where the bumpers meet the body, does that match up.

Garsh, the more I look at the older Mirages, the more I like their front end and back end, better than my newer 2020. Certainly the front end is mo' perdier.

It will fit. They didn't change the shape of the 1/4 panels, tail lights or hatch. The 17+ style has different license plate lights that snap into the bumper where the older ones have a metal plate with the 2 lights screwed to it. The only thing you might want to look for is to make sure the white plastic clip things(that mount between the tail light and wheel well) are the same between years. I'm pretty positive they are slightly different on the front bumpers so may be different on the rear as well.

    Here's a thread about a 21' swap onto a 17'.https://mirageforum.com/forum/showth...to-2017-Mirage

    I installed a 15' front end onto a 17' a little while ago. https://mirageforum.com/forum/showth...-are-different

I never even realized that some markets dont have the weird red reflectors in the rear corners of the car.
please consider checking out my Mirage related youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6c...IEViRFw/videos

Some don't have weird amber reflectors in the sides of the headlights(that have been mandatory(in Canada, probably the US too?) since 1967 or 8? here) either, or side airbags or rebar(crash bar) behind rear bumper cover.

Ahhh, I googled a bit, seems like "rear side retainers" is what they are called everywhere
I will look out, many thanks!

I do actually plan to swap it soon, so I will definitely return for the thread update, just to confirm fitment and/or if new retainers were needed

I'd look up and compare part numbers. Try googling Mitsubishipartsonline or something like that. I have retainers from a 15' in my bucket of parts but don't have 2017 handy. I have a 17' Mirage outside that I need to strip out but it's buried in snow at the moment. And more stupid snow is falling right meow.

I just did look though mitsubishipartsonline website

So far SKUs for Mirage 2014 and 2015 (they don't have 2013) seems to be:
    6410B802 (Side Retainer Right)
    6410B801 (Side Retainer Left)
6410C482 (Rear bumper itself, but is not my bumper, mine is without reflexes )

SKUs for Mirage 2017 to 2020
    6410C964 (Side Retainer Right)
    6410C963 (Side Retainer Left)
    6410C972 (Rear bumper itself)

So yes, SKUs are indeed different, though if I google both retainers for visual comparison, I don't seem to be spotting any difference.
    It's probly millimetric
