    Airbox Mods

Has anyone tried modifying the resonator box/snorkel on the OEM airbox? I've seen aftermarket setups for other brands like this one:

I think these are about the closest things to air intake mods anyone has done...

Lots of Mods if you want to search for them...They make lots of High Performance Noise, but I don't think they have any proven Horse Power Gain... I don't think any of them has proven to be better in performance then the OEM, but the cool factor & Noise is maybe all that is really important...
I didn't know what to do, so I didn't do anything

Decided to try my hand at a quick fabrication. Bought stuff from Home Depot and Ace Hardware. It isn't perfect though it shows what I was looking for. Will test it for any MPG gains later this week Name: IMG_20220404_110836_HDR.jpg

Fancy. What kinda gains are you looking for, more powers or more mpg's? Others seeking better economy tried making warm air intakes instead.

I see you have a K&N, I used to think they were the be all but just run stock filters on my junk now. I may have over oiled a filter or two and gummed up the maf on other vehicles...I'd be surprised to see any gains on these cars but I have seen before and after dyno results on an older chev truck with a K&N "cold air intake" setup. The rwhp gains were exactly what the box said they'd gain. It shocked everyone. It made a 10 or so hp gain in a truck that maybe made 190rwp stock iirc.

Not expecting anything honestly. I'd like to get more MPG at highway speeds. If it increased HP a hair that would be a plus.

As per the K&N, I've been using them for almost two decades on several cars. Never had any issues and they saved me buying OEM filters multiple times.

warm intake, it keeps over 15°C above the ambient temperature on highway and over 20-30 °C in the city.
all observationals were taken above 0°C ambient temperature.

Picked up this OBDii reader to check the airbox mod.

Did a 5 mile drive on a highway at 55 mph. Outside temp 75 F with light rain. Will post up some more runs soon.Name: IMG_20220415_111931_HDR.jpg

Here's an update on the air dam mod.

I drove on the same 5 mile stretch of highway today under the following conditions
    Outside temp 79 F
Cruise control set at 55 mph

My first run was with the air dam installed. Attached are the two screenshots from my OBDii reader at the end of the drive.

    Part 2 of above

I then ran the car on the same 5 mile stretch without the air dam. The OBDii screenshots are attached.Name: Screenshot_20220421-114648.png
