Its impossibly hard to make a competitive EV now a days.
    Tesla makes their own batteries.
For us to buy a 100kw battery, we would need 100000/(5*3.6)=5,555 cells. Cells are 5.15 each including bulk discount. That makes our battery alone without any of the relevant control technology, charging circuitry, cooling, a case. cost 28,611 USD

    Cell price: https://www.18650batterystore.com/pr...lg-m50lt-21700

The tesla model 3 starts at 42,000 USD For the entire car, batteries and everything.

I wouldn't expect a Lancer EVO EV to cost any less than it's old ICE counterpart, so around $45k sounds about right for a potential halo car.

The last EVO MSRP was $39k back in 2016.

But this car has 'only' 33.7kWh (95 Ah * 14.8 V * 24), which is in your calculation only 10k$. That leaves 25-35k$ to build a car around it.

An ev that comes with a battery that small would be comparable to the $30,000 mini cooper ev. I imagine Dirk was implying that should release a car that is comparable to modern EV's like tesla model 3 with 82kw battery, Nissan ariya 87kw battery, bmw i4 81.5kw battery for 66k.

This car would obviously have to be much cheaper than the more desirable bmw i4 for people to want to buy it. I doubt they have the research and development budget for something like this.

If it was up to me, id say they should do a plug-in hybrid mirage with some more tech features like blind spot monitoring and radar cruise control. If i could do all my driving within the plug in range, I could save 100% of my gas spending. which would be like $20,000 over the 10 year warranty period. A hybrid would also improve acceleration a lot which would be nice.

Even a corolla comes with collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring as standard in canada but the mirage doesn't come with either.

Then again im also sad they dont have the G4 in canada so what do i know about business.
