    203mm rear brakes after 120 000km

Took off a rear brake drum to have a look at the state of wear. The car has about 120000km on it with all original rear brakes. The linings have about 70% of their original thickness.
If I take the previous wear and calculate how long they would last, it comes to a theoretical value of 400000km with the original linings.

Here the picture of the rear brakes on this 2014 car with 120000km. Some of the dust was brushed off with a soft paint brush prior to taking the picture, no brake cleaner used.

Wow, that's clean! I had a 17' in the shop the other day with close to 400,000km and the rear brakes were still original and not requiring replacement yet. The other style smaller drum setup(14-15 n/a market) doesn't seem to last nearly that long. 300,000km and they're pretty much toast.

In the rust belt one should keep the drums painted.

    I'll add to that:
First apply undercoat, then and a good metal paint on the front and rear axle bodies before they get rusty!
