Question Hey, I'm New Here! 2018 Mirage G4

I've recently purchased a 2018 Mirage G4 ES with the CVT Automatic transmission. Currently, the car is bone stock, but I'm looking to make some cosmetic modifications, but I'm not sure what would be best to start with on a budget. Let me know if anyone has any ideas!

Welcome! You could add eyelashes to it. Or testicles hanging off the rear.

I've personally added a Glock model 23 to mine, and I think it looks fantastic!

This is not the best response to someone's 1st post on the forum. I would have left the forum, & never came back if someone responded back to me this way. I like the humor on the forum as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't treat someone new this way.

The most common upgrade to an G4 ES may be wheels. Personally, I don't mind stock wheels, but some prefer a larger tire on a Mirage/G4. The simplest size up would be a 175/65r14 tire. They are slightly wider, & they would fit on your existing rims.

I like my Weather tech floor mats, but they are a bit expensive. What are some of your thoughts?

    Welcome to the forum, too!

This isn't exactly a cosmetic modification but the first thing I would do to any Mirage in Michigan is spend $139 on a Krown application.

I second the weather tech floor mats if you plan to keep the car for more than a couple years. I was gonna say truck nuts too but I'm late to the party. Depending on what your budget is, you might be able to find some lowering springs if you're into that. Otherwise there aren't a lot of mods available over here other than stickers, glue on hood scoops and fancy hubcaps.

Great suggestion! Taking care of your car's inner beauty will help it's outward appearance for years to come!

If you apply Krown, be prepared for it to drip and stain your driveway, parking spot and/or curb for the next year. Part of the process. But it does work.

Aftermarket wheel covers help alot and aren't too expensive. The dealers used to sell some body trim pieces and a small spoiler, but a little pricey. Also, welcome, and don't let a few jokes scare you off. Lots of good info here and generally good people, too.

Welcome Ileyrae!!! The G4 is an underappreciated sedan, my wife loves hers and refuses to drive my Mirage hatchback lol. Listen, I'll level with ya, performance mods, forget about it. Your ride has a JATCO CVT7 in it, great for mpg but delicate and requires fluid changes every 30 to 50k miles. So think of diligent maintenance as your personal performance modifications. If you had a the 5speed version it'd be a different story because the 3A92 engine can straight take a beating for years!!!! Were talking Toyota level of engine durability. Your G4 comes with the same engine but not the toughness of a 5speed transmission. So keep your mods purely cosmetic. I put on 175 65 r14 tires on my wife's G4 with Vision Cross alloys and it looks fantastic. It really changes the look of the whole car and only slightly drops fuel economy.

Also, we are still waiting for someone to do the truck nutz modification so the pressure is on. Don't let us down!!!!

We have gurus on here, I call them wizards, that are probably the most helpful group of dudes you'll ever encounter, even if they brake your balls like they do mine all the time lol!!!!

Here's a list of Wizards and their specialties, you'll want responses to your questions from these guys. Forgive me if I forget anyone please, too many Grateful Dead shows.

    1. Fummins, master mechanic, 20 plus years of experience, works on a fleet of Mirages, documents a sh*t ton of data with pictures and right ups, was impressed enough with the car to have already owned two of them. This guy is the God of JATCO CVT trouble shooting as well as everything else in the Mirage. Funny as hell, opinionated, will break your balls if you ask stupid questions but is also the first to give you the shirt off his back if you really needed it. This Canadian has saved me a lot of money of the years, no bs.

    2. Top Fuel, one of the original OG mechanics on here with 40 plus years experience with anything mechanical. He too, puts up precise write ups and is our alignment specialist and overall wizard with vehicles.

    3. Mark, the good natured father of the forum, who always has a kind word, fatherly advice, and knows tires like nobody's business and has solid advice in shopping strategies for the Mirage. He will often be the first to answer questions and make an effort to help out. If more people were like Mark, the world wouldn't be so sh*tty.

    4. CobraJet, the dark horse anti-hero that lives by his own code. He's been in the delivery business for years and knows the Mirage inside and out and can help you trouble shoot issues like ill fitting brake shoes and such. Also a skilled mechanic, but doesn't suffer fools gladly so watch yourself.

    5. Foama, our Euro Space Star specialist from Germany, that has a lot of insightful information about the European version of the Mirage, called the Space Star. He's a fountain of knowledge but don't get your feelings hurt if he's a little brusque in nature, its just a part of his efficient German background. His Space Star will probably out live all of our Mirages. Good man to ask electrical questions.

    6. 7miles, our southern gentleman "George Wallace" type that is a brilliant seat engineer for Toyota and Hyundai that provides a lot of insight into manufacturing and the Japanese mentality of production. He's good to ask about towing with the Mirage as well.

    7. Dirk Diggler/myself, the village idiot that pulls answers out of the aforementioned wizards above so lurkers don't have to sign up for an account or feel stupid for posterity and research. I also occasionally drop memes to varying comedic effect, extremely varying. In other words, don't mind my neurotic Jewish ass.

Welcome and good luck, you're gonna need it!
