The manual climate controls are all cable operated so to swap that in would require at least the HVAC box under the dash with all the servos that move the various doors, wiring, the control head, and probably reprogramming the ETACS to understand that system exists.

It certainly isn't a 'plug-and-play' operation, if that is what you are asking. If you talk to most folks who bought these cars new in '14-'15...when automatic climate control was standard...they would have preferred the manual controls your car now comes with! Myself included.

That said, the automatic climate control has proven to be quite reliable thus far. But I would still prefer knobs and cables.

I like my automatic climate controls. I think the system works great.

As much as I like it, I wouldn't retrofit it into a Mirage built without it. It does interface with ETACS, uses a interior temperature sensor for feeedback, and monitors engine coolant temperature for it's own operation. If you want it, I suggest buying a Mirage with it built in.

The list price of an automatic climate control head unit is now over $1,000. Even the manual control head unit is $785!?! Just reminds me that i need to get on eBay and buy a spare...

And if you're driving to maximize fuel mileage, you will never be driving around with your AC in AUTO mode. It puts too much of a load on the engine...especially in stop and go driving.

Yeah I disabled the auto ac the first week I owned the cars. I prefer manual knobs too actually. Its actually quicker to spin a dial than hit a button ten times to move ten degrees.

I totally agree. I mess with my fan settings a lot. I push that little up/down thingy a lot more than I'd like to. A knob would be a welcome change. Thankfully, I don't mess with the heat setting much...

I think I'm at the end of my decision making. I am most likely going to go with a 2019 Mirage ES 5 speed in Orange for an OTD price of $10700 (including TTL) at Oakes Mitsubishi in Kansas City.

I know it's a bit more than White Bear ($10300 otd ttl). But I get factory cruise control over the aftermarket lever. Kansas city is only an hour and a half from Whiteman Airforce base (No plane ticket to Minnesota!). White Bear was great to work with however.

I would do the same. I would always give the closer dealer a shot at matching a price. A year newer with factory cruise & 6-way adjustable seat is worth something extra. You are getting a nice car for the money. Used 2108 are selling for more in some cases.

Seems like you've done your homework & know what you want. Look forward to an update after owning one for a time.

White bear gives a lifetime powertrain warranty with their cars too but it wouldn't do you any good living so far.

You made a good deal and I'd take it too. Post pics when you get it!

A model year newer is worth at least $1,000.

Even if both cars have zero miles right now, in 3 years... one will be seen as a 3 years old, and the other will be seen as 4.

    Simplify and add lightness.
