    New wheel suggestions

I just came back from my 25,000 mile service and i was informed that two of my tires need to be replaced very soon. The other two have about 400 miles on them. I am not sure how this has happened (uneven tire wear) as i have been rotating tires on my every service visit for 5K miles. I looked at my local tire shop and they said the new 165/65/14 would cost me 137+tax per tire. I have looked at other tire options on the thread but confused just as to which other sizes would be sufficient for me. Can you guys please suggest me what other sizes i can order. i know 175/65/14 is an option but anything else i need to consider?

Hello hari04415 and welcome to the forum.

It would help to know what year Mirage you have. Some Mirages have rear axle alignment problems that cause fast wear.

There are slightly larger tires that would work fine, but if you have alignment problems the new tires will wear quickly too.

Have you had your alignment checked, esp the rear? If not, you need to do that before you put another set of tires on.

I have not gotten my rear alignment checked. I am going to do that this week. I still have to change the tires. Any suggestions on the sizes?

Sorry man, I stick with 165.65.14 and buy my tires online to save money. So unless you're in a rush, that's my direction.

I've had great luck with Federal. $50 a tire.

    or Potenzas. $82 a tire.

Start with an alignment. Get your alignment anywhere, but be certain to get documentation.

There is a problem with many rear axles that are out of alignment and these axles can not be adjusted - they can only be replaced.

The good news is this can be replaced under warranty by your friendly local Mitsubishi repair center.

There's more to the story, but that's it in a nutshell. If I weren't on my phone I'd look up the thread that covers this for you.

And I apologize for not addressing your question directly. There's not much rationale in looking at pricey tires if they will only wear down in half their expected mileage. Your tire options open considerably if your alignment is within specifications.
