When this thread first popped up, I bought a new OEM clutch cable and tossed it in the back of my car. Guess I should probably print off the install tips in this thread and toss them back there, too.

I think it took me a week to get the cable...so the lesson is...don't wait until you need one!

Yep. The express option for the only place I can find it is 2 weeks.

And yes, "BFE" is american slang for middle of nowhere...

Wow...that's pretty lousy. You are looking at all the usual places online (Mitsubishi Parts Warehouse, etc.) and not just your local dealer?

"Bum F#ck, Egypt". Or, as I usually say, "Bumble F#ck, Egypt".

OK, I never would have guessed Egypt.

I usually just say BF nowhere. Haven't heard egypt used before. I took the wifes car for a drive to BF nowhere yesterday. Ended up here 52.519262, -116.395245 https://www.google.com/maps/place/52...!4d-116.395245

I feel smarter today learning this. I googled it last night, because I was clueless, too!

BFE is an abbreviation for "Bum F$ck Egypt" or "Butt F$ck Egypt," which is used to denote "out in the middle of nowhere."

I'll be honest - Now that I know what BFE stands for, I still don't get the connection?

I am ok with that, too!

Back to clutch cables - I plan on replacing mine at 100,000 miles, & I will keep the original as a back up. I may not purchase one until I am closer to mileage level. Seems like a good item to buy from a salvage yard. I hate stockpiling parts, & then something happens (smuck a deer & total your car). Then again I may own Mirages for the next 25 years. That's the joy of them sticking with basically the same powertrain in these small cars. Used ones will be around for a long time now.

Unlike a Pontiac G8, new model and a year or two later Pontiac is no more.

Might this be a Pacific NW thing? It seems us PNW's have heard it but not elsewhere. If so, interesting.

I grew up with the version Bum F*** Egypt and found it readily understood until recently.
