No. 4 stroke refers to the combustion process not cylinder amount.

Suck, squeeze, bang, blow. Aka air in, compress with fuel, ignite, release.

I got about 5000 miles on my mirage before my spinal injury, but in that time i never noticed a momemtary power loss randonly when cruising on the highway. Could be something wrong with your mirage.

Excellent point. This has been discussed in this thread: Front defrost, engine power fluctuations with instructions to turn off auto AC compressor control in post #5.

Hopefully this solves the problem for you, Disco77. Try turning off the auto AC control and let us know if your Mirage still has it's 'hiccups'.

YEP, it was the A/C compressor apparently. I drove to Oklahoma City early this morning without the A/C on; no hiccups. When I drove back this afternoon in 90 degree weather with the A/C on, hiccups.

Glad you pegged this minor mystery so quickly! You guys are great!

You should try an old Metro with the A/C on... it's much more than a hiccup!

    Tinker,
. . . . I get the same hiccup. The AC compressor is pulling 6 HP. That is a large percentage of the available power.
    GOD Bless and Thanks,
    rich!
