Bad front window glaring at night

Hi guys. Anyone else have bad glaring issues from other car lights at night time? Ive kept my windshield pretty clean with windex but the glare is blindly as hell on rainy nights. Any products to treat the glass recommended?

I have a quite similar ongoing problem, because where I park at work, there is a factory close by that continuously outputs great amounts of hydroflouric acid into the air day and night. The acid eats the surface of glass, which gradually becomes as translucent as wax paper when dry, and if wettened becomes transparent again. In rainy conditions, the overall result with the wipers going is not good at all. New wipers or glass cleaner don't make any improvement.

What can be done is to actually polish the glass with a special glass polish. The stuff is based on Cerium (IV) oxide, a rare-earth powder. There are several such preparations on the market, but I bought the stuff as powder directly from a chemical store.
It is sprinkled on the moist glass to be polished. You also need an orbital sander with a firm foam disc that touches the glass while polishing.
It takes me about 20 minutes of polishing with an orbital sander while frequently re-spraying with just a little water out of an old windex bottle to keep it from becoming dry. It needs to remain moist while polishing. Afterwards, the windshield is almost like new. The stuff also gets rid of scratches, providing they are not to deep. A small amount of glass polish is enough for many repeats of polishing.

I've always thought this is from driving a small city car alongside lumbering SUVs with higher mounted headlights. At least in my neighborhood.

This must contribute to your corrosion problems. Surely it doesn't help.

Thats why I usually drive the 21 year old FIAT to work.
I think SUV's should officially qualify as trucks, and therefore be subject to truck rules and regulations.

If the problem isn't from windshield scratching/etching. The original poster might try those polarized yellow night-time driving glasses. They look like yellow sunglasses and are designed to reduce glare without reducing light noticeably.

Windex sucks. It can leave a film. Get a good quality auto glass cleaner. Stoner is very good, you can find it at auto parts stores.

Not to sound like a commercial, but I got some cheap BluBlocker sunglasses a long time ago and they worked well...I wouldn't squint even looking almost at the sun while driving. I've had a couple of pairs, and I recently got some cheap knock-offs and...they're not as good, but of course since they were free, I'll never lose them
