    Steering alignment

Does anyone happen to know how to adjust the rack and pinion steering column? I have put about 600 miles on my new 2017 mirage and have noticed while driving straight the steering wheel is turned slightly to the left. Not a huge problem just wanting to see if it is easy to center it without having to fully align all the wheels. As a cheapskate I did not purchase any warranties on the vehicle so I would rather not take it to the dealer. Thanks guys.

If I understand correctly, by the design of these cars, the steering wheel correction is done with an alignment.

If you purchased your Mirage new you enjoy a bumper-to-bumper warranty that will include alignment. Present this as problem to your dealer service manager and they will perform a check and alignment as needed.

Visit Mitsubishi's website, select Owners at the top of the page, create an account, and register your vehicle. There you can see more details about the coverage included, at no charge. There, you can also download manuals and other materials that can help you get the most out of your investment.

Sometimes the crown of the road will cause the symptoms you are describing.

In any case, an alignment is called for, and will be covered under the new car warranty. Be sure to take advantage of it as it will help your tires last as long as possible.

Familiarize yourself with the Rear Wheel Misaligned? thread and understand that you may need to face a rear axle assembly replacement - also covered (under the 5 year 60,000 mile warranty.) It is in your best interest to get this done soon.

I had my alignment checked at my first oil change, and it was discovered the rear axle was out of alignment. It was replaced, free of charge.

Definitely check out the info Eggman mentioned.

Here's a video explanation of why your steering wheel might be off-center...

Kind of a long shot but check the tire pressure too.

You guys were spot on. Took it to the dealer this morning and they confirmed that the rear axel is bent. So they are ordering a new one. Looks like the 2017s are still having the rear axel problem.
