Question Weird Metallic clicking / tapping sound at low speed

    Hey all!

I've had my Mirage into the local dealer a few times to have them check out a odd noise coming from the front left wheel by the sounds of it, however they've never been able to replicate it / find the issue.

Oddly, it only seems to happen once the car has been moving for a while, and it's especially audible when the window is down and you're near a wall or car, etc.

No noise when the wheel is turned, no worse over bumps, etc.

The noise also happens when reversing, so i'm thinking either wheel bearing, something weird with the front brakes, or perhaps a CV joint (but probably not).

Originally I thought it was a rock stuck in my tire treads, but it doesn't seem to correspond to that either, as the clicks are much faster than the rotational speed of the wheel turning.

See an attached video for the odd noise!

    Anyone experience anything similar?

Does your car have plastic wheel covers? That noise sounds like it could be the wheel covers. You wouldn't be the first one with this issue. I would try removing them and see if the noise goes away.

Yes actually it does. The factory ones from Mitsu.

I believe I tried that before, but I can't recall exactly. I'll give that another try and let you know!

Hey javensbukan sounds like a possible dash rattle. My Mirage has had them since practically new. I find Japanese/Korean cars have dash rattle issues. Crackity plastic interior pieces could be anywhere in your interior.

Hit a few bumps along the way, winter driving for example..is all it takes.

Take the hubcaps off and listen. They can make some funny noises sometimes.

Realized I never updated anyone on this: It was the hubcaps.
