Average speed was about genuine 80km/h. There were a few slight hills on the way and just glide downhill in neutral. It was a long drive and and a hot day.
The stock MT is a bit taller than those in the US, and the jump from 4th to 5th could be 10 - 20% larger for my liking.
This is my best so far on my 82 mile commute. I did this at 6am with no AC. I monitored my new scangauge to judge best RPM and speed to travel. Occasional neutral coasting on some hills. No traffic. Ran mostly 55-60mph.

Same route today in the opposite direction at 8am. I had to run the AC at 75 with fan level one, had one brief traffic jam and stopped for fuel midway.

Those are great numbers. We had a forum member some time ago in Florida that really liked hypermiling his Mirage until he got an electric car.
See 3dplane’s garage entry and fuel economy log for more details. He was also a Mitsubishi tech who helped us figure out some of the early quirks such as the rear axle alignment problem and LED light bulb problems. Kinda miss having him around, he was really helpful.

Short answer is different situations call for different techniques. It’s true that coasting in gear will save fuel but will also kill momentum. Coasting in neutral won’t have that engine drag to slow you down. It has been my experience that the Mirage gets better fuel economy coasting in neutral. Hope that helps.
