So in my travels across southern Ontario and Michigan over the past 6 years owning a Mirage and noticing them now, still not that common a car to see. The odd one, and I have even seen some pretty beat up Mirage's in parking lots at road stops on the 401.
I met my cousin in Madison a few weeks ago, & we rode a short distance in my Mirage together. He lives in West Allis (suburb of Milwaukee). He wasn't aware of a Mitsubishi dealership in the Milwaukee area. Waukesha (outside Milwaukee) has a Mitsubishi dealership. Their Mirage inventory is zero for both new & used. They do have some G4s in stock. Milwaukee is the largest city in the state of Wisconsin, & its Mitsubishi dealership has zero Mirages.

My parents live near Green Bay (third largest city in Wisconsin). Its Mitsubishi dealership has 2 new Mirages & 0 used ones. I live closer to Madison. I couldn't tell you what they have, because they don't even allow you to see their inventory without giving you their personal information. They have professional harassers (not sales people) that hound you. Most corrupt dealership I've ever encountered.

If I based my purchase on dealership network alone, I would not purchase Mitsubishi products.

Speaking of that inventory for Bad City in Madison, I put profanities in for the name and email so they can't bother me for looking hahahaha. Not that the prices show up anyway.
    -Karl B. No Mirages currently...

Maybe Mirages are getting their sales increases around the West coast area, and not the Midwest? I don't know. But talk about shady, the dealer practices that you're describing. I won't go there with my own experiences at my local dealer. Not great that is for sure.

I'm sorry, but Mad City Mitsubishi is the lamest dealership I have ever encountered. Everything about them is a turn off for me. Last time I looked at their inventory all of their cars were listed at MSRP. I don't visit any dealership without knowing their OTD price first, & I only used them for a test drive. I saved myself approximately $3,500 buying my new Mirage elsewhere.

In all honesty, this Madison dealership is selling vehicles. I believe Mitsubishi produces a decent product. Overall, their vehicles are a good value. It's their dealership network that is holding them back in my opinion.

I bought a new 2017 Mirage ES manual, because a another Midwest dealership (4 hours aways) was willing to deliver a Mirage to my driveway. I paid less than 66% window sticker. If I had qualified for the loyalty rebate or veteran rebate at the time, the car would have been even less money. I have a Mirage, because I found a Midwest dealership that's willing to go above and beyond in my opinion. Two of their employees spent 8 hours (here & back) delivering a Mirage to me. I did student driving lessons at school that morning, and I went bowhunting that afternoon. The transaction took 15 minute in my kitchen. I share this, because not all dealerships are the same! Thank goodness for that!!!!

I'll be honest here. Adding more & more standard features to a Mirage makes it less & less appealing to me. I really like my Mirage. I feel it's affordable, reliable, and very economical. Having said that, I would not pay a lot of money for a car like this. If these cars weren't selling for under $10,000 back in 2017, I wouldn't have bought one. I also bought one back then, because I suspected $9,000 Mirages brand new weren't going to continue for very long. I am more interested in a good price verse added features. I could care less about a lot stuff that added to cars these days. I may not be the norm on this, but I have better uses for my money. I wanted a dependable daily driver that my daughter/son-in-law can borrow when visiting the U.S. I used that as another justification for buying my Mirage at the time.

My 2017 Mirage ES manual seems like a luxury hatchback compared to my former 1990 Ford Festiva L manual. Then again, I paid $5,300 for that car brand new. 14 years later that car still hadn't depreciated the full $5,300 when I sold it to someone at work.

Yea eh Mark I hear you there. My current '14 Mirage is super basic, no AC and manual tranny.. and I like it for the no gizmos factor.

My Mirage replaced a 97 Ford Escort wagon.. so I totally get how the Mirage is such a big upgrade. That said I have had a few issues lately with my Mirage, and my dealer on top of it, so you can get a good dealer or a bad one yes.. one willing to take it the extra mile. Or another that is a con artist with a smiley face.

The 1988-93 Ford Festiva (designed by Mazda & built by KIA) was a crude, but reliable little car. I don't remember having to take it to the Ford dealership for anything during my 14 years of ownership. That doesn't mean it didn't get normal service work (brakes, mufflers, etc.) done by local mechanics or myself.

I sort of expect the same of the Mirage. It's a simple enough car to work on. Warranty/recall work would be the only time it will see a dealership. Personally, I don't even know where I would go at this point? I had White Bear take care of the one recall on my Mirage, but I was passing through Minnesota at the time (on my way to North Dakota). Now I can say I've been to the dealership I purchased my Mirage from, too!

My Mirage replaced a 2000 Grand Caravan. It was loaded with junk that all broke, AC, power windows, power seat, power mirrors, all that garbage was flaky one way or another. I too was convinced the $10,000 Mirage would only last while everyone else had a $10G car. Well, now only Spark in Canada is $9,999 for the base model. The Mirage is $10,998 without incentives. The Spark has better packages, for less money.
