Do you recall when the jet was a short length of brass you could bend to the desired aim point? That was a long time ago.

I don't! I'm in between millennial and generation x.. but we had a '63 Valiant 2 door in the 80s, when I was a kid. The first car I drove (officially) was an '89 Ford Taurus wagon. Got real rusty by the end.
**Update on my evap leak: the check engine light just came back on. So, the new gas cap didn't solve the issue. I think the fuel filler part itself needs replacing, or resealed somehow.
So, back to the dealership next weekend. Visit # 5

Has anyone pressure tested the gas cap? Should be able to pressure test the gas tank too.
Sounds like your mechanics are throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks.

I don't know. The one guy mentioned a smoke test, but i think the issue is the seal between the gas cap, and the fuel filler nozzle where the gas pump's gas nozzle goes into. The female end needs replacing, and the new cap on the old filler I think it made things WORSE than better.
If that makes sense. I'm stuck in the middle with Mitsubishi Corporation cheaping out, and a Dr. Jekyll Mr Hyde dealership

Every time you drive your car, a slight vacuum is applied to the fuel tank to verify that it is air tight. If that test fails, you get the code you are seeing.
While a loose or poor-sealing gas cap is the most common cause of this code, it's not the only possible cause. A crack in a line or a bad seal somewhere in the fuel tank system can also cause this. A friend of mine had to replace the entire fuel tank assembly in his Hyundai to fix this problem. There was a hard line molded into the fuel tank that had developed a crack.
Finding the cause in your case might require more detective work, but starting with the gas cap was the most sensible approach.

My EVAP leak issue has FINALLY been resolved: after the dealer did a smoke test, they found out that the evap hose was loose, and thus causing some fumes to leak out. And that was setting off my 'check engine light'. So they tightened the hose back up, and we're back in business!
I figured it wasn't the gas cap, after the new gas cap did not do anything to alleviate my issue.
Thank goodness. Done and done. Only took 15+ hours waiting at the dealer.
(and 0 charge. but I fight it, politely yet resolutely)

Thanks, inuvik. I feel like when I drove home from the dealer today, that the problem was actually fixed for real this time.
I don't want to complain too much, but my issues with my 2014 Mirage is 90% dealer, 10% car itself. They could have fixed everything in 1 visit, and not 7 visits @ 3 hours a piece... I refuse to pay money when I bought my 10 year warranty back in April 2014, with my car.
Anyway fixed now, but I feel a bitter taste at the dealer now hate to admit it, even though I love cars and Mitsubishi's to be honest.
