2015 Mitsubishi Mirage CVT review (Aaron Gold - cars.about.com)

Another solid review by Aaron Gold that keeps the Mirage in proper perspective.

    Funny opening:

Saying the Mitsubishi Mirage has been the subject of some criticism is like saying the Titanic ran into a little trouble at sea. The Mirage has been tied to the whipping post by most of the automotive press, with very few of us -- and you'll note that I include myself in this latter group -- having said anything nice about it.
He goes on to give it a proper critique of the usual suspects (steering feel, suspension, NVH). But also gives praise where it's due: cheap to buy, unbeatable fuel economy, reliability, long warranty.

He also tackles the used car vs. Mirage question.

A lot of my fellow hacks say you're better off buying a used car.
    Worth a read:

    "Tied to the whipping post..."

That is a good way to describe all of the hate the automotive press has heaped on our beloved little econobox. Glad to see at least a few reviewers who are willing to give the car a fair shake. The Mirage certainly has it's weaknesses...but it has strengths, too.

OK, I just checked Aaron Gold's FB page, and it seems he wears his Mirage-friendliness very proudly:

That pic is from his Mirage hypermiling contest win:

Their average speed would have been about 37-40mph. What's the altitude difference between Vegas and LA?

    regards

I think it is about 2,000', but you have to go over pass which ~4,000' before you descend into LA as I recall.

EDIT: was almost right Las Vegas is at 2030', Cajon pass 3,776'
